The word Chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit. Ancient Ayurvedic, Yogic and Chinese texts have repeatedly cited the many energetic channels that run through key points in our bodies. Throughout these points, or Chakras, energy can flow in and out in a constant stream. Focusing on these areas can help give us greater understanding and insight into the state of our physical, mental and emotional health. The 7 "Main Chakras", represented by colors of the visible light spectrum, are associated with corresponding glands, organs and muscles. When energetic blockages occur in these areas, we can notice issues arise in the form of mental and emotional imbalance, as well as physical illness or "unidentifiable" aches and pains. Looking into these areas can also help inform us of the need for dietary changes, physical improvements and mental health care. Meditation, Yoga, Breathwork and Color Visualization/Therapy are just a few of the ways we can help identify the root of bodily ailments. Different forms of bodywork, such as massage or energy work provided by a trained practitioner, can also help you delve deeper into your personal healing journey, while providing immediate physiological improvements. There is a wealth of information in the world for those wishing to learn more and do more for their health, and I highly encourage the use of texts and ideas that resonate with you the most. Healing is not linear and every journey is different. Trust in your own process!
